Biden administration's costly illusion about China
The free world has paid and will continue to pay heavy prices for the current US administration's illusion about the PRC.
Two of many examples:
1. The current Rashist slaughter in UA would have had a good chance to be prevented if the US had not acted based on the illusion. The administration begged the PRC for months with US intel about Putin's planned invasion. The PRC passed the information to Moscow to confirm the weakness and fear of the US to affirm Putin's confidence in the victory of the invasion. The US could have prevented the slaughter by rapidly ramping up lethal weapon aid to Ukraine. The slaughter will cost the free world at least hundreds of billions of dollars in the end.
2. The pledge to ban AI weapons could cost the US astronomically, or even threaten its existence. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO chance for the CCP to abide by it.
Marines and the relatively small Space Force are the only two out of the five military branches that meet their recruiting goals. I doubt the situation will get any better as long as the administration keeps pushing up the priorities of DEI and climate change in the military.
The US spends $136B on the compensation for service-connected disabilities alone. "In 2023, there is an estimated 14,873,966 disabled veterans, which is roughly 80% of the total veteran population.". It is increasingly expensive to have humans serving in the US military.
The US still maintains the edge of innovation. More automated intelligent weapons and fewer human soldiers are the way to address this human resource issue.
After constraining Ukraine to give Rashists the asymmetric advantage - Rashists can freely strike anywhere in Ukraine while Ukraine is prohibited from using US weapons to strike back, the US administration handcuffs itself in AI to offer the PRC a significant advantage.
Again, the current administration's chronic illusion about the PRC regime is an existential threat to the US.
